Yoga

Body and Mind are like two balls inside each other. The friction of one will make the movement of the other. That is why Yoga helps to calm the mind by keeping the body still in an Asana (position) or vice versa.

The peaks of Himalayas are considered the cradle of yoga. In the beginning Rishis, the Godfathers of yoga, practiced yoga to complement their several years of Dhyana (meditation). They strongly believed meditation was the way to connect to the supreme power and for that Dharana (focus) was important. To achieve Dharana their body should be Nichel (still) in a particular place for many months or years without food or water. To keep the body still, Rishies made Bhandanas (locks) in different organs and placed the body in various Asanas (posters). The only intake is the breath, that sustain the Prana (life). They were even controlling their breath to avoid any kind of physical or mental disturbance. Pranayama (breathing exercises) originated from this.

A calm mind is a creative mind, where the peace and happiness stay with the flow of Prana (life). That mind won't be disturbed with any kind of loss or gain in daily life. That is what our Rishies gained through the powerful practice of Yoga and Meditation in ancient times.
